The Engineering Wing is at the forefront of promoting sustainability in the maritime sector. Key responsibilities include implementing all IMO requirements on Indian ships and developing policies to align with international standards.
This involves creating comprehensive policies and standards for alternative fuels such as biofuels, green hydrogen, and ammonia.
The Wing is also actively engaged in the development of standards for Shore-to-Ship Power (SPS) systems in Indian ports to reduce emissions from berthed ships, furthering India’s green maritime initiatives.
